Badger State BURGR95 and Fork Horners 47

July 7, 2019 All day

BURGR95 course will measure 95.5 miles including 66.2 miles on gravel, rough fire roads, fast single lanes and plenty of climbing. This ride is self-navigated through the wilderness of Lincoln, Langlade, and Oneida counties, unsupported except for one drop
bag point at mile 42. You will be responsible for yourself and should not count on rescue from anyone. You will be on the road for 5 to 7 hours and will not pass through any town ever. You will be in bear and wolf territory most of the time. Your phone will work most
of the time. All traffic laws and laws of nature apply.

The Fork Horners 47 course is generally flatter and smoother with none of the rough stuff that might be called B-roads out west.

BSG medals to top 3 male and female in both

Self-navigated by GPS or cue sheet

The Hunt of the North returns on June 9, 2019, a Gravelstoke adventure that combines the best elements of gravel cycling into one memorable experience. Participants can expect exploration, navigation, camaraderie and some of the best terrain North County San Diego has to offer.

Months of preparations have brought us to the second annual HUNT, and this year we are taking things to a whole new level! Canyon Bicycles USA is hosting this year’s adventure, from where riders will be challenged to go out and gather five pieces of uniquely colored gravel, one at each predetermined checkpoint. Locations will be revealed just 24 hours in advance of the event. Hunters are encouraged to ride in teams of two or more and take the route of their choosing to collect all five pieces of gravel for which they will be rewarded.

2019 SweetWater Whiskey Rebellion Gravel 200K

May 19, 2019 All day

Challenge yourself on the SweetWater Whiskey Rebellion Gravel Ride, an adventurous tour through historic PA landscapes of Washington County. Perfect for Adventurers who ride OFF-ROAD including Mountain Bikers, Gravel Junkies, Cyclecross Racers and Adventurers Cyclists. You’ll ride many of the original winding roads and covered bridges traveled by the farmers who started the 1790s Whiskey Rebellion in response to President Washington’s ill-fated first national taxation plan. Whiskey Rebellion roads vary from pea gravel to new loose baseball-sized can have some mud and grass in the middle too. There is also a stream crossing on the longest route. The terrain is endless steep rolling hills that western Pennsylvania is famous for with over 7,000 ft. of climbing in the 120K option. For 2019, you’ll be able to test your mettle on the NEW 200K option, the Whiskey Barrel 200K. With nearly 12,000 ft. of elevation, it’s certainly among the most challenging gravel rides east of the Mississippi.

Ride The Cog – Hayden, CO

May 18, 2019 All day

The 2019 Hayden Cog Ride is impressive both in its physical presence and historical prominence. Although ‘gravel grinders’ are currently a big trend for cyclists, West Routt County, CO has been gravel grinding for over a century, thanks to early Hayden pioneers and cycling enthusiasts Ferry Carpenter and Ernest Walker. The Cog Ride takes advantage of the Cog’s impressive climb along with the network of gravel roads surrounding Hayden. Taking place on Saturday, May 18, the 2019 Cog Ride celebrates the sixth anniversary of this epic event, which has proven to be a colorful gathering of every level and age of bicycle enthusiast. From vintage models, single speeds, and tandems to fat bikes and high-end racing setups, and even to electric-assisted bicycles, you see it all at the Cog Ride, which benefits the Hayden Heritage Center Museum.

The ride has three options including a 31 mile scenic ‘Gravel Grinder’ that starts with a challenging ride on pavement up the Cog then circles west on gravel roads around Elkhead Reservoir; a 26 mile ‘Mud Route’, almost entirely on gravel and dirt, starts with a spectacular climb up the Middle Cog then heads along remote backcountry routes including the homestead of Ferry Carpenter; or the challenging 43 mile ‘Combined Ride’ which features the best of both routes. The Combined Route starts at 9:00am while the Gravel Grinder and Mud Routes begin at 9:30am. A short and very easy family ride at 11am lets the youngest riders participate both with bicycle decoration, and a fun obstacle course.

Early bird registration and t-shirt orders are available online through April 30th at HaydenHeritageCenter.org for $40, while registration beginning at 8am on the day of the event is $50 on-site at the Hayden Heritage Center. Registration includes the Ride the Cog After Party at the Hayden Granary catered by Embers Wood Fired Pizza; 2 beverage tickets and live music by 3Wire. Non riders are welcome to come join the fun, food and music at the Granary for $15. More information including ride details, maps, and mileage along with event sponsorship opportunities are on the Cog Ride’s website at HaydenHeritageCenter.org. Please also feel free to email the museum at haydenmuseum@zirkel.us, or call 970-276-4380.
