Escape the winter and join fellow dirt/gravel cycling enthusiasts in North Florida on this FREE ride of your choice of 60, 80, 100 or 150 miles on some of the most scenic dirt roads in the southeast. These scenic and rural routes are mostly unpaved, so a cyclocross bike or mountain bike is necessary. You’ll wind through grand southern plantations, oak canopies, farmland and pecan orchards on red clay and dirt. Pavement has been kept to an absolute minimum. New for 2018, we’ve added an 80-mile option, which cuts out one of the sandiest sections of the 100-mile route.
This is an UNSUPPORTED ride: there is NO support, NO sag stops, NOR support vehicles. The course will NOT be marked, and there will be NO printouts prior to the ride. YOU are 100% responsible for YOU, YOUR equipment, YOUR navigation, and YOUR own food and drink. If you need a juice box and a hug every 20 miles, this is not the ride for you, please stay home.
Rides start at 8am sharp! Parking, full bathrooms & showers, and start/finish is at the UF Extension office 2.8 miles west of the traffic circle in Monticello, FL.
Camping is available for $5 at the start location, with bathrooms & showers. Bathrooms will be open all night, starting the evening of Friday, March 2. RV Campers: No hookups and no electric. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for camping reservations.*
