Yorkshire True Grit was described by Cycling Plus as “One of the Toughest Adventure Rides in the UK”. And now we’ve made it tougher!
Experience an adventure ride like no other. Taking place under the vast dark skies of the North York Moors National Park and the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Yorkshire True Grit Dark Skies will test your endurance, skill and mental stamina! The route will be approximately 50 miles and use a mix of public and private trails through forests and across open moorland. Expect to push yourself and your bike beyond what you thought would be possible to discover if you have True Grit.
Starting at the stunning Newburgh Priory on the outskirts of Coxwold, just on the edge of the North York Moors, Yorkshire True Grit Dark Skies will see you setting off as the Moon rises in the sky and cycling into the night sky. The North York Moors National Park is a stargazer’s paradise, with little or no light pollution and with a cloud-free sky you should be able to see thousands and thousands of stars and constellations. Of course it’s also a Gravel/XC MTBiker’s paradise too with sweeping singletrack, fabulous forests and the rise and fall of the open moorland. The route will, as always, be designed by Andy Wright of Bikewright – having lived all his life in the local area he knows all the best bits of trails, and the right people to speak with to access “hidden” trails!
If you’ve ridden our summer event then you’ll know that the route won’t disappoint.
Yorkshire True Grit Dark Skies proud to be supported by the North York Moors National Park Authority and is part of the 2018 Dark Skies Festival.
