Grava Bikes Revenuer: One Bike- All Roads. (And some off road!)

While many think of the gravel road/back roads scene as being a Mid-West thing, there has been a culture of “roubaix” type, back road racing and “ultra-cross” style racing going on in the East for several years. Events like Canada’s Paris-Ancaster, or Tour of Battenkill and Iron Cross have been happening out East for years and now with the additional interest in gravel riding, builders and brands are trotting out new designs for these sorts of rides. One of those brands focusing specifically on the scene is Grava Bikes based out of North Carolina.

Here’s the press release from Grava Bikes on their new steel gravel bike dubbed the “Revenuer”:

Grava Bikes is pleased to announce their new steel frame, The Revenuer. The Revenuer is handbuilt in the US from a custom blend of Deda and Columbus tubing. It features a 44mm headtube for compatibility with tapered steerer tube forks, a PF30 bottom bracket to accommodate any crankset type and to give single speed setup capability with the use of a PF30 EBB, 142x12mm rear thru axle,  and a full carbon fork with tapered steerer tube and 100x15mm thru axle. The frame and fork have clearance for 40mm tire widths. Frame is powder coated for increased durability in harsh conditions.

Price for frame, fork, headset and seat collar: $1599

Grava will be on hand at the upcoming Darby Roubaix with Revenuer demo bikes. We will be taking deposits on the frames from the first production run and selling the remaining inventory of our carbon fiber Maple Sally framesets (regularly $1750, closeout price $1250) on site.

Grava Bikes is a small company dedicated to the idea of one bike, many uses. We make bikes that are designed to perform on paved and unpaved roads, and to tackle cyclocross and monstercross style events as well.

  1. Revenuer? What a great name for a black bike for riding the backroads of the mountains of North Carolina. Geometry numbers look good… looking forward to the ride reports.

    1. Glad you like the name! Check out the photos on our website to see the head tube badge that is based on a Prohibition agent badge from the ’30s and the liquor tax stamp chainstay decal!

  2. As expected, it didn’t take long for gravel bikes to all tend toward gravel road racing bikes. Short head tubes, low handlebars and short chainstays. The road bike curse is alive and well.

    1. I’m curious – what would you like to see as far as specs for head tube, chainstay, wheelbase, etc. What would be your ideal dimensions?

        1. We absolutely appreciate variety in bikes and know that The Revenuer is most definitely a performance oriented gravel bike. It was the lack of offerings of performance steel bike that led us to create it in the first place. A lot of companies limit steel to offerings in the touring or adventure categories only, but we cut our teeth racing on and off the road on steel frames back in the 80s and it was that kind of bike we want to make in a modern and updated form. In our local, Appalachian vernacular, we wanted to make a bike for “tear-assing” through the woods on!
