Maple City Century

I’m doing it again…..sharing some of the most beautiful and challenging back roads Wayne County, PA has to offer. This will be the fifth year in a row that I have put on this ride with my family and friends. It’s not a race, just a ride. I like to ride my bike and I like to share my experiences with others so come have some fun and challenge yourself. There are three fantastic routes: 100mi, 62mi, and 30 miles. Each route has plenty of farms, animals, waterfalls, climbs, rocks, and more! We have designated rest stops on each route that will be stocked with food, water, drink mixes, candy, and more. We’ve got a pretty good handle on the rest stops by now and we’ve even added one on the metric route. The route is predominently dirt roads with pavement sections thrown in to connect it all. A cyclocross/gravel bike works best, but I’ve done it on a road bike with 28c tyres. Some people prefer a mountain or fat bike, but I recommend NOT BRINGING a “vintage” bike because it will be no fun for you. I try and mark every intersection along the route, but I HIGHLY recommend inputting the course into your GPS/phone/device if you get off course because cell phone service is spotty. I will use this event page and send out emails to those that register to keep everyone up to date. You can also check out www.maplecitycentury.com for detailed information and to find info about the area. There is also a Facebook event page set up that I will post to as the dates draws near. Hammer Nutrition will be providing nutritional support along with other local sponsors. I try and keep the costs as low as I can so swag and prizes aren’t a priority. I’m all about the experience. If there is any money in the bank leftover I donate it to the Michael Seaman Memorial Scholarship Fund in Michigan. Mike was a cyclist and personal friend of mine that was killed by a drunk driver while on a training ride in Mt Pleasant, MI. I provide a meal afterwards to each participant, but your’re on your own if you’re looking for a cold one. More details on the meal will be published as they are confirmed.
