The Fiddlin Fifty is a fifty mile or so gravel road ride in beautiful NE Minnesota’s Balkan Township and Superior National Forest. Most of the ride is on gravel roads with some forays onto snowmobile trails. These may or may not consist of loose sand and ruts. Some of the roads have bottomless potholes. Some of them may remind riders of washboards. All of the roads and trails pass through picturesque scenery. If we are feeling generous, one of the roads will lead you to ice cream. They all end at a friendly gathering of new and old friends sharing great fun and good food!
For those who don’t want to ride the entire distance, we have created the Fiddlin’ Fun, a 17 mile route on gently rolling hills, highlighting the beauty of Minnesota’s North Woods. Visit the Fiddlin’ Fifty Facebook page and blog for more information. There you will also find photos from previous events.
There are no stops along the way for food or water, so come prepared. Afterward there will be a potluck for those cyclists who would like to bring a dish to pass.
